These days it seems that violence and chaos clang as loudly as last week\u2019s Christmas Carols and today\u2019s New Year\u2019s Greetings.<\/p>\n<p>Evening darkness will gather soon\u2014a little after four in the afternoon here in Portland, OR. The ground is still soggy from weeks of rain.\u00a0 It\u2019s cold and cloudy.<\/p>\n<p>It must be time to take a nap.\u00a0 Times like these require an extra dose of self-care even as inner voices shout that the needs of the world and my life are too demanding to stop for a while.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I will head the call.<\/p>\n<p>Take a bath.\u00a0 Lie down in the middle of the day.\u00a0 Feel the earth under my feet.\u00a0 Remember my connection to Spirit.\u00a0 Listen.\u00a0 Or prop up my feet and read a good book.<\/p>\n<p>The old is crumbling and the new is slowly emerging.\u00a0 Transition, in birthing children or thriving communities, is wild.\u00a0 But, for now, right after high noon, rest is needed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Big Topics are exploding everywhere.
